I haven't found a thread about this yet, so I decided to start one. If there already is, please forgive me for not searching the forum thoroughly enough.

So, anyways, I was just thinking that wouldn't it be nice if I could learn alot more about ducks, although I do know the basics. I have Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks (which is a very good book, by the way), but I'm sure there's much more information about ducks and maybe some books that have more specific topics.
So, what books do you have? How helpful are they? I will edit this post as needed to include the books you mention here, and I will also add to the list as I read more. If there is a really good internet article or website, you can include it as well. Thank you!

The only duck book I have is Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks, which you have. I say it's the best out there! The book helped me pick the right breeds of duck for me, which are Mallards and a Pekin. The book helped me to take care of my ducks, and they are doing really well!

Thanks for your input!
Yeah, the Storey's book is really good. I used to have a bunch of tabs in my copy marking the stuff that was really helpful, but I left the book sitting out, and the ducks (when they were inside) came over and pulled them out. There's lots of good stuff in that book!

I will be reading Keeping Ducks and Geese soon and I'll let you guys know how it is. From what I've heard about it, though, I don't know if I'll be learning anything new. We'll see.
I've heard good things about a book called, umm .... The Ultimate Pet Duck Guidebook, I think? Anybody ever read that?

I have The Ultimate Pet Duck Guidebook. From the title, it is about keeping ducks as pets. and it has a section with information about duck health issues. I have found it helpful.

Full disclosure - I know the author.

OK, I'll add it to the list. Thanks!
You know the author? Wow, how cool! Hmm ... a very knowledgeable person, I hope. I was planning on getting that book :)

Kind of off topic, but what about mallards makes them a good breed to keep? I love them but couldn't find a good excuse to get one when I ordered my ducks!

She has been raising and rescuing waterfowl for years, and has compiled so much of what she has learned and done in the book. It is not inexpensive, but I find it valuable.

I got them for pets. I just love their personalitys. And their striking colors! To tell you the truth I just wanted ducks really bad!
