Hi all it's been a while since I posted. Long story short, had to move and rehome my flock. Years later and now I have chickens again, Hooray!

So I have a young flock of five. Two buff orpington, two silver laced wyandotte, and one Easter Egger (ameraucana). Wasnt too worried about gender since I got them all at feed stores and have come to understand they are pretty accurate. Now that they are almost at laying age it looks like my EE, my youngest bird is a cockerel.

Some physical traits are: Pointed saddle and hackle feathers, tail feathers are curly and fanning out, and a large bright red comb. Personality traits: Calling in the morning, outgoing, stood up to the cat, always fluffing up, and definitely the leader. Pretty sure I know the answer to this but thought I would get an opinion. I know that sometimes hens can have rooster traits, but all of these, what do you think :) Thanks for reading!

What a cutie right? Was the only one that had the sweet little owl face. Also why I chose the name Owlowiscious

Owlowiscious today. No longer and owl face but a bright red comb

The new saddle feathers coming in are very thin and pointy.

I think you're right! I think the patchy red over the back is another sign of a cockerel. Cute cute cute though!
