New to Chickens

Thread Starter
Advice needed please. I have 4 birds 3pullets and 1 cockerel they are around 4.5 months old. I was under the impression the cockerel was a pullet until he started crowing a few days ago.
My questions are when do I have to separate the cockerel from the pullets and I will be getting a few more pullets soon. Will I have to keep the new pullets separate from the my current pullets or are they still young enough to just be put together.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

If you intend keeping the cockerel, and you are getting more pullets, theres not too much of a reason that i can see of keeping him separate.

Following  a period of quarantine, the new pullets can be introduced to the existing pullets and cockerel. Heres a few links to read through in the hope that you can develop a strategy that suits you.
