This is my second year raising chicks and in this batch I have two rather suspect chickens that I think may be Roos, a speckled Sussex and a giant blue cochin. I have pics below, the other SSs and cochins do not have comb and waddle development.

Here is the suspect SS

Here is a female SS of the same age

And the suspect Cochin

Thanks for your input ! We have plenty of ladies so I'm sure these two would have plenty of action

Hi! I've got a 7 wk old speckeld sussex who I suspect is a roo--here's his photo:

This is my speckled sussex lady of the same age:

My suspected roo has a really short, cupped upright tail and his comb is more red/developed than my lady.
BUT--I've heard speckled sussex are notoriously hard to sex with an certainty until you see an egg....

Good luck with your beautiful chickens!

I am having the problem with my speckled sussex.
Usually I can sex my chicks at 3 weeks old.
First year with the speckled sussex for me.

I've heard the same about speckled sussex. Mine has the same cupping and my other ladies have no comb or waddles yet. They are all a little over 5 weeks old.
