wry neck

Hi @Zohaib , hope I didn't confuse you or anyone else... your English is quite good, but I'm sure it's difficult when we rattle this stuff off, and I write such long posts...

I know you said earlier to Kathy that you were taking the water container which had medicine in it OUT of the pen. That's the correct thing to do -- for sure, do not try to use this medicine in their water supply.

What I meant (and what I think you mean) is that you give the correct amount of the Enrocin into each individual bird's throat either once per day or twice per day, for 4 to 5 days, depending on how much is given in each dose.

For the smaller chicks, because it is so hard to measure very small amounts, I make the diluted medicine with distilled water, then give that.

So if the chick is getting dosed twice a day at the 10 mg per kg rate, and the chick only weighs 100 grams (or 0.1 kg), it only needs 1 mg of medicine, which is almost impossible to measure (it would be 0.01 ml) in a 1 ml syringe, if we are using the 10% version, which is 100 mg per ml.

But if we dilute the enrocin using distilled water to make it only 1%, now 10 mg per ml, we can give the chick 0.1 ml which is easy to measure using our 1 ml syringe.

Yes, 4 to 5 days as Kathy said. Hope this helps! And hoping the chicks are better very soon!

Reasearching like crazy on "wry neck" as I helped an IB chick hatch last evening...it had rotated to the wide end of the egg, but its head/neck were backwards compared to a normal so it couldn't zip. So because of its position in the egg, he's got quite the crooked neck. I have bird vitamin drops I've diluted in water and have been using an eyedropper to feed...question is, how much is enough or too much?! Directions say dilute 1 drop of vitamins per ounce of water. Trying to hold the little guy forcing his head upright..."chick therapy" for about 10-15 minutes every hour. ANY other suggestions? I gather this could take a day or two to correct or weeks?

It is correct. It will take a few days to a few weeks.
