These 2 are almost 9 weeks old. Someone please tell me they are both pullets and that they are not cockerels. Thank you.:yiipchick

The BLRW feathered out first now has slowed down and is the smallest. It does have the laced pattern. I am thinking Roo but hoping not as he has seemed to slow down on the growth of the wattles and comb. His feet are not that large, the partridge is much larger. He is not attempting to crow like my maran the same age and he tends to follow the Roo maran so I keep hoping it is a pullet. Please let me know what y'all think.

Thanks Alex. I was afraid of that but hoping someone might respond with maybe he's a pullet. Lol. It is odd why most chicks turn out to be Roos. The ratio is way higher for Roos....or at least for me. :(
 
The sex should be pretty clear by that age but it's always harder to tell from a photo than it is in person. I'm leaning toward the blrw being a pullet. I would suggest posting a couple more photos of them in a week or two.

I've got a 7 week old BLRW myself that I purchased as a sexed pullet. It has me wondering if it's a roo too. I've been going through a bunch of old threads comparing pictures and it seems like the BLRW are one of the hardest Wyandottes to sex. Or at least that is what a bunch of people said. I sure hope we both have pullets. I'll be following along to see how yours progress. Good luck!

Yes thanks Lomine. I actually hatched mine from an incubator and only this one blew hatched so I have nothing to compare to outside of the other partridge Wyandotte. And of course the look totally different. Partridge is big, has more feathers including tail feathers, big feet but the comb look different. I was told the partridge was a pullet because if it was a Roo it would not have pencilling on the feathers at all. The third one I hatched was a French copper maran and he has big comb and wattles both red....and he is crowing. I actually knew he was a Roo when he was hatched as I seen his little comb that moment when he was drying off. I just wish they were all that easy to sexed. Guess we both will find out soon enough. Fingers crossed for us borth. :D:D;)
 
Here they are about a week and a half older. The BLRW comb looks the same but the wattles are a bit larger. He is still the smallest but I am leaning toward it being a Roo. And for the partridge Wyandotte, I am leaning toward hen. Any addl thoughts on these new pics. Thanks.

Ok...now these are about 14 weeks old. I am still thinking they both may be Roos but neither are crowiing. The BLRW tail does not look like a Roo to me and the partridge Wyandotte tail kind of flops down. I know the size and feathering says Roo but his attitude does not say Roo. I have added a pic of my maran hens...same age but one is white. Please I let me know any and all comments on all. Thanks so much. Kathy
