How do I stop the Egg Song?

I keep them in a dog cage thing that is quite large (I use the largest type, 48") It's lined with hardware cloth and I use blue tarp to cover them up at night. But wouldn't fabric suffocate them?
Fabric breathes better than tarp material. So you don't have a coop at all?
Do they stay in the dog cage all day long? Do they have a run? How many do you keep in the dog cage? What breeds? And how big exactly is this dog cage?

No, they sleep in the dog cage. I let both of them out during the day into the yard. They're rhode island reds and the cage is 48 inches x 29 inches x 32 inches

Might be time to pick up some pallets and start building them a coop. The kennel is just barely big enough for two large breed hens, without nesting boxes. A coop will also be darker and more enclosed (muffling sound), so there will be less early morning noise. A simple 4x4 structure will be more than enough room, and allow enough space for roosts and nesting boxes. And it can be built in less than a day, even if you aren't handy at all.
