In this thread we play games for prizes!

Some prizes that have been won previously:
hatching eggs of both common and rare breeds
night guard predator lights
aprons
mealworms
chicken saddles

Stay tuned to see what will be offered next!

Current BST rules, apply : https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/250783/buy-sell-trade-rules-must-read-agree-to-participate-in-bst/0_20

Please read all BYC rules as well as all my rules before playing any game.

BST Rules:
Listings that don't follow these guidelines will be removed. Members that don't adhere to the rules will be warned and possibly banned from the forum.

1. BackYardChickens and the BYC Staff do not endorse items for BST and are not responsible for anything related to BST transactions between the members.

7. You must be at least 18 years old to participate in the BST/swaps sections of the site. You can not swap or buy or sell or conduct any transaction in BST or any part of the forum if you are under 18. This includes asking for and taking in free items or animals.

My Rules:
• You must have been a member of BYC for at least six months with at least 250 posts, OR a member of BYC for at least one year if you have less than 250 posts. This is a stricter requirement than BYC rules.
• Game specific rules and prize will be posted for each game.
• By playing, you agrees to pay a small fee if you win. Fees are determine by the host and will be posted for each game. Only the winner has to pay. Fees are used to cover postage and packing materials. Playing is free, and the prize is free. You must be able to pay via Paypal to ensure speedy shipment of time sensitive hatching eggs. No e-Checks allowed.
• Only adults are welcome to play. You are not required to claim the prize or pay the fee. You may donate your prize to another player or PM the host if you would like to discreetly forfeit the prize. Once you win a game, you must sit out the next five games, even if you discretely forfeit or openly donate your prize to another player. If you openly post in the thread that you are playing for fun and not accepting the prize, you may continue playing additional games. By openly forfeiting, hosts can continue play until there is another winner who will claim the prize. To clarify, if you win but donate to another player, you must sit out the next five games. If you play for fun and game continues after your technical win, then you may continue playing.
• Every attempt is made to offer only prizes that are available for immediate shipment.
• If a prize is unable to be awarded/shipped within a reasonable time, the fee will be refunded and the transaction will be considered complete. Hosts please make every attempt to honor your commitments and ship prizes.
• Winner must claim prize within a reasonable time, not to exceed a few hours. "Claiming" a prize includes sending payment and shipping information.
• Unclaimed prizes will be forfeited. Winner may not carry over prizes for future ship date.

• Limit one prize per five game period. This is to allow others an opportunity to win.
• Rules subject to change as needed.

BATTLE SHIP

Players will create their own game boards to consist of a grid that is ten columns wide by ten rows down. Columns should be numbered 1 through 10. Rows should be labeled A through J.

The host will secretly arrange 5 "ships" on their own grid. These represent the location of "ships" on the "battlefield". "Ships" will range in length from 2 to 5 squares. All players will start the game with a blank grid.

The first player will pick a square at random, calling it by its column reference and row number (C3 for example). This represents their firing a "missile" directly at that square. If the host has any part of one of the "ships" positioned on this square they will call a "hit" and mark on their own battlefield which part has been it. All players will place an "X" on their own grids to show a "hit". In this instance, the current player will be allowed to take another guess. The current player continues to guess until they miss.

A player that makes a hit earns a point. Players earn one point for each hit, weather they sink the "ship" or not. There are a total of 17 points available for the game.

Play continues, rotating through all players, until all "ships" have been destroyed. The player with the most points wins the game.

BREED BINGO

YOU MUST PREREGISTER TO PLAY BINGO! This is so I have plenty of time to make the Bingo cards.

The host will randomly call out various chicken breeds, announcing each breed approximately every 60-90 seconds. Match five of the called breeds to your Bingo card in any straight line either horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. In the case of multiple people getting a bingo at the same time, whoever posts "BINGO!" on the chat first wins.

WHEEL OF FORTUNE

How to play in a nutshell: A phrase is displayed showing a line for each letter and extra spaces between words. A player guesses a letter. If that letter is in the phrase, every occurrence of that letter is displayed and the player gets to guess again. An incorrect guess and the player loses his turn.

Wheel of Fortune way of playing: Each correct letter guess earns the player a dollar amount, determined by spinning a wheel. The wheel also has spaces for “Bankrupt” and “Lose a Turn”. A player banks (keeps) the “cash” earned in a round if he correctly solves the phrase. The player with the most “cash” at the end of the playing session wins the prize.

How we play on BYC:

We will play for approximately two hours. Game time may be extended to accommodate system glitches, PC crashes, bathroom breaks, etc.

All players check in at start of game. Check in means the players post on the thread that they would like to play (“I’m here”, “count me in”, etc.) The host will put all the names in a hat and draw three contestants for the first round. Any newcomers can check in at any time to add their names to the hat. The first name drawn gets to play first. The second name drawn plays second. The third name drawn plays last. These same three players play the first round until one solves the puzzle. Then all three names get put back in the hat. The host tosses the names around to mix them up and draws three more names to play the next round. Players will be chosen randomly in this fashion throughout the gaming period. A player could be chosen to play more than one round.

For each round, the host will start the round by posting the category clue for the puzzle as well as the puzzle represented by one line for each letter, with punctuation already revealed, and each word being on its own line. The host will also post how many words are in the puzzle. Players please post if you cannot see all the “words”.

The host will spin the wheel and post the value of the first consonant.

The first contestant will post their consonant guess.

The host will reply back how many times that consonant appears in the puzzle and the value the contestant has “earned”. The contestant earns the value of the wheel multiplied by the number of times the consonant appears in the puzzle.

The host will update the puzzle and repost the puzzle showing all letters that have been correctly guessed.

The contestant then has approximately two minutes to study the puzzle and post their next action. The contestant will post whether they want to spin, buy a vowel, or try to solve the puzzle.

If the contestant wants to spin again, simply post “spin”. The host will spin the wheel and post the results. Play continues as above.

If the contestant wants to buy a vowel, simply post “buy E” for example. The host will deduct a flat $250 from the contestant’s accumulated earnings regardless of how many times the chosen vowel appears. Buying a vowel costs the contestant $250 even if the vowel does not appear in the puzzle. A contestant can only buy vowels if they have earned enough money. If the chosen vowel does not appear in the puzzle, contestant loses his turn and play moves to the next contestant.

If the contestant wants to solve the puzzle, simply post his guess what the answer is. The host will confirm if that guess is correct. If the guess is correct, the contestant “banks” what he has earned for that round. Other contestants’ points are zeroed out and a new round with new players is played. If the contestant incorrectly guesses the puzzle solution, he loses his turn.

A contestant must solve the puzzle in order to keep any points/cash accumulated during that round.

Values on the wheel range from $300 to $900. The wheel also had one $5,000 value, one “Lose a Turn”, and one “Bankrupt”. Control of the wheel passes to the next player if the wheel lands on Lose a Turn or Bankrupt, or if the player calls a letter that is not in the puzzle, calls a letter that has already been called, fails to call a letter within two minutes, or gives an incorrect answer. Bankrupt does not affect score banked from previous rounds.

The host will not keep track of incorrect letters called for each round.

What is the game and the prize?

Tonight's game is . . . Guess what I bought!

I will describe an item that I have purchased or considered purchasing because I have chickens. I will give a clue, and players can take a guess. Each player can only guess one time between each clue provided. When someone guesses the item, and egg gets laid in their account. Once a winner accumulates six eggs in their nest box, they can choose to collect the eggs (i.e., claim their prize) or let the hens keep laying. Once there are 12 eggs in someone's nest box, collection is required. Once a nest box is emptied, fees are due. Fees are $20 for six eggs collected or $25 for 12 eggs collected.

Tonight egg collectors may choose to collect from the Ayam Cemani nest or the Isabel Leghorn nest.

We will play until all available eggs have been collected.

I hope the clue are multiple choice questions.
