For Sale: GAMES FOR EGGS and other fun prizes - Page 624

Oh! I thought of something! Maybe we can tighten up the 'enrollment time'? On a game like white elephant I think it would be good to set a clear deadline when someone can sign up to play. If someone comes in last second we can invite them for the next game? I'm not trying to be mean, just want to there to be a more stiff itinerary. I'm a structured type of woman and changes give me anxiety!

We are only human after all.

sure-that sounds fine! Let me get through this week and see what my schedule is for the following week. I am not sure what the future holds on this hand but if I am stuck at home due to surgery, I will need something to keep me busy! I just want to put it out there for people to start getting ideas. Amazon is a wonderful thing!!! Even though I would be the host and not play I would still throw out a "bonus" prize at the end of the game. keep throwing out ideas or concerns so I can make this run smooth-I really appreciate it!

For that matter, any host that doesn't ship or refund will be permanently banned.  Any host that cannot ship but does refund will be put on probation.

I still owe two people due to my Isabel Leghorn rooster sleeping on the job.  I discovered there might be a problem when I candled my own eggs a few days after shipping. One player opted to wait until Spring to fulfil.  That player's shipping fee was refunded.  I have not refunded the other player.  I am hoping to reship to the other player in about a week. I can't ship soon I'll refund that player as well.

The best way to flush out hiccups in a game is to try it once.  All players will be required to send tracking information to @meltel
when they ship.  Ideally everyone will ship and nothing will get lost in the mail.  @meltel
are you willing to keep a worksheet of who is sending what item to which player and adding tracking numbers as they are shipped?

Since this game would be an equal swapping where every player gets something, I don't see why everyone couldn't play.  Anyone think of any issues letting everyone play?  Of course this type of game would not decrease the time-out period for other games.
We do White Elephant at work for Christmas, we have 1 rule other than amount of times an item can be stolen (2xs max), and that's a value limit. It keeps a more level playing field so that one person doesn't get something like a set of Bic Pens, while someone else gets an awesome drill or something... (what we get at work party 😉)
I'm still figuring out this chicken stuff, but loving almost every minute of it 😎👍

I would also suggest that the players have the items on hand at game time, ready for shipping to the winner.  Planning to purchase the item after the winner has been determined could be problematic if the item (on Amazon for example) sells out while the game is being played and availability is unknown in the near-term.  Handmade items, to be made per winner's preferences could also be troublesome as well.  In my experience with swapping threads, life happens and commitments can't be kept. To prevent disappointments, I would recommend the host and players of the white elephant game stay away from to-be-made items and to require that players have the items on hand.

We do it at a family reunion. Everyone brings in gift bags with random things in them but they're taped shut so you can't see what's inside. Everyone picks 10 numbers between 1 and 50. Everytime one of your numbers is called you may go pick a bag off the table or steal from someone else. It's always a lot of fun. After all numbers are called, everyone opens their bag to see what prizes they've won. Sometimes it's great prizes, sometimes they're goofy. You never know smile.png
