it was coming trim one of the 3 pens she was running but she had only ever gotten 3 I believe and they all turned into boys. I was very surprised to end up with one let alone a pullet!

From what I understand, they're not the best, winter hardy breed so I'd be very reluctant to send them outside to the coop. That's when he shocked me. Mr Get These Birds Outside suggested that I create a pen with heat in the screen porch (which we plastic the screens) for them to stay in for the winter until spring gets here. I was totally shocked lol. I am NOT going to argue that one! I think he's secretly excited for them too smile.png

Barking Chickens VA. She has some with fibro gene going on too, look pretty striking. They aren't laying a whole bunch right now, and the eggs I got this time have "?" on them and when I asked she said they were out in the free ranging areas and so not 100% sure if its the Hedemora or not... which I am of course not very happy about, but I do like all her breeds too... These eggs are very different from last set I got from her though, so unless these are new laying pullets, then Im thinkin diff breed... Not really sure why she sent them when unsure, plus USPS took 7 days to get them to me somad.gif

This is second time that my second order from a "good experience" with a breeder gave me crappy results... could be time of year, who know.

Wooly is a name used for silkie type feathers that can pop up in other breeds... some use silky or silkied, but wooly is better imo since many think that it means they have Silkie crossed into the lines... it's not, just a recessive gene that can occur... the feathers are just barbless so they don't form an even, flat feather... they're shaggy... smile.png
