Hi I have a very sick brown leghorn chicken. She is very lethargic and has a droopy discolored comb. She hasn't been laying or eating for a couple of days. She drinks a lot and sleeps a lot too. Her feet look great and my chickens free range every day. They are also kept very clean and with fresh food and water. She also has runny diarrhea.... She was always a very wild hen and now she barely runs away... Very sad. Please help ASAP we are worried that she doesn't have much time.

How old is she? Feel of her crop to see if it is full and hard, soft, balloon-like, or empty. What color are her droppings? Has she lost weight in her breast area? Has she been wormed? Give her some electrolytes in her water, and some chopped egg or tuna, and add water to her chicken feed to try and get her to eat.

Thanks for the response! She is only about 1.5 years old... Her crop is soft, droppings are whitish clear, she has lost weight overall, can't really tell exactly where, and no she has not been wormed. I will give her some egg and see if she eats anything.

At 18 months old, she may be starting her first big molt. That can cause pale comb, feather loss, and not laying for a month or so. They can also be aloof and not feel well. You should see feather loss around the coop or run if it is molting.
