Hello Everyone,

I'm new to ducks and hope you will be able to help me sex some or at least tell me there is at least one female in the bunch.

I've read about sexing ducks by sound but I haven't had success there either. I've separated them and listed to their noises and on you tube... but they all sound the same to me.

They are 9 weeks old (still young) and here are a couple pictures of them:

Any thoughts?

Welcome to BYC! You said they all sounded the same. Do they quack? What kind of noise are we talking about? Drakes have a raspy noise (I've never heard it, so I'm not much help in that area), and females quack loudly.
If you got them straight run, then I'm sure you have at least one female, probably more, but, of course, I can't be sure of that. There are three ways to tell them apart as far as I know:
1) voice
2) drake feathers (drakes have a curly feather and a darker head, but yours are still too young for this, I think.)
3) vent sexing (difficult when they're bigger like that, though.)
I hope this helped!

It's not really a quack or a rasp. It's like a gurgling quack not a loud quack like I've read females described and not raspy like I've read males described. I've separated them, stressed them, fed them (got them excited with peas), had my 2 year old chase them, and the quacks are still indistinguishable....

Solutions:
1) I'm stuck
2) None have curly feathers or darker heads (maybe they are all female?)
3) I was present for a vent sexing session a number of years ago and after seeing some of the ducks die from internal injuries I decided that wasn't an option.

Is anyone familiar enough with KCs to look at the picture and have an educated guess?

You may have to wait a little while then to find out. I wouldn't vent sex either if I saw that! I can say that males *may* be bigger than females, but I can't be sure of that. I have a female KC, and she looks a little like the two in the front of the first picture.

@KadaganX , maybe this helps? This is my KC hen. Unfortunately, I don't have any drakes to compare it to.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Oh okay. So I could be wrong.
So could I.
