Possible Problem with Neighbors cats

So Recently my neighbors got a couple cats, one is looks like a young adult and one is a medium sized kitten. They both look like house cats (really soft and docile) but my neighbors keep them outside. Today I noticed the kitten for the first time, so I naturally picked it up and played with it, but after I put it down I realized it was stalking my pullets. That made me realize that one of the cats (probably the adultish one) was probably the reason for the limp in one of my hens that happened last week and the limp in one of my chicks that i noticed today. I have seen both of them stalking and chasing after the pullets and hens (3 pullets around 6 or 7 weeks old and 6 hens) and I'm not sure what I should do because I like to let them free range during the day when we're in the house since their run is so small. Any suggestions? I can't really sit out there with a water gun all day and i'm not sure if house cats are really a threat to the lives of my chickens or not. Thanks!

You'll want to maintain good relations with the neighbor's. So have a nice friendly talk with the neighbors about their cats and their relationship with your chickens. That should take care of it.

If that fails, then there are a whole host of options, some good....some not do good.

Does anyone know if house-cats even have the capability of killing hens or pullets? I mean I guess they could kill small pullets because cats kill birds all the time but what about a full sized hen?

Yes, a cat could kill a full sized hen....not sure about a rooster.

I would surmise that a nice big, flock protecting, rooster would probably intimidate a cat.

They can kill pullets/young birds...They wont mess with a full sized hen. My cat teases my chickens..She runs past and slaps them, or pops out of the bushes to make the all scatter..
Probably what the cats are doing to your chickens...

Cats can kill full grown chickens.
Of course chicks are easy and juveniles arent much harder but ive had full grown BIG hens killed by cats.
Sure some cats may just play and never kill any and some may play and mean no harm but end up badly injuring or killing one but a feral or half wild hungry cat will kill any size chicken for a meal or even for fun.

What about roosters?...that is an interesting thought.
