Mystery egg...

I went to collect the ducks egg but I found a tiny egg in its place, the same colour as the normal eggs. Can ducks lay small eggs on occasion? What's happening? This egg is as small as my quails eggs.

These are commonly known as fairy eggs and don't have a yolk.
