new 4 chicks questions

Just being around them and talking to them whenever you pass by works. It also depends alot of the individual bird. I have an 11 year old who I have had since he was 3 and he's still not tame. I also have a 3 year old who I've only kept for a year and he's already pretty tame without me trying to get him used to people

Ours are now almost 5 weeks and 1 for sure looks female and one has lots of banding. The other 2 are undetermined yet.

i've been pulling white clover heads for them, and they eat those like it's candy. i wish i could let them loose in my yard and save me a step.

So my next question:
How do i go about raising them to be less afraid of me(us). i try to pick them up every day one at a time and hold them and talk to them and rub them. They often start calling the other bird very loudly in 1-2 minutes.

Hello, we took some more pictures last week and put them on the scale to see how their weight was doing at a little over 4 weeks.
most were in the 6oz range. the Green one here at the bottom is one I'm leaning on being a male, I'm hold his wing feathers out to see if the banding shows up for the picture.
I was amazing how well they all did at sitting on the scales for me. 2 actually sat down and 2 stood up

Cute! Weighing tip... you will get a more accurate reading if your towel doesn't touch the counter.

UPDATE...
the RED and GREEN banded birds both turned out to be Male and the Yellow and White are both female.
The Green male is the dominant bird with the White female being the last to get food and is often chased by the others.

Right now all 4 are in great shape and eating well and have not yet started much calling other than some clicks.
