Hello, I am a first time guinea fowl owner and so far I've been really lucky overall. Unfortunately when I first got my chicks there was an accident with the heat lamp. One of my chicks was napping and the lamp hit her on the eye. Needless to say I've been devastated and worried that she would get picked on, but so far that hasn't been an issue.
I have diligently monitored her eye and gently cleaned it with warm saline, we were making amazing progress. Then one day I got her for her daily cleaning and I noticed the lids were sealing together. I was scared to hurt her by pulling them apart, but now her eye appears to be healed completely shut. I can see her eye moving behind the sealed lid, but now I'm at a loss for what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I would like for my guinea fowl to be free range, but that seems like a death sentence for this one.
