I'm trying to figure out what breed this little roo is. He's one of the poor sweet peanuts that came with my ducks and while I've found a home for all unexpected 7 of them I'm considering keeping one so my flock would have a roo. However I'd like to know what breed he is before I make the final decision.

Thanks for the info guys. I think we're going to keep Peanut and only give away his brothers. He's such a cute little guy, and I think it will be good to have a Roo in my flock considering where we live.

You can't tell that Peanut is a rooster unless they have been vent sexed, which isn't 100% accurate anyway. A beginner should NEVER vent sex a chick, as they could easily be hurt or killed.

how do you know its a roo??

In reading the OP's first post, 8 of these "packing peanut" chicks were included in a shipment of ducklings from a hatchery. In that case they are likely all males.

He is either a RIR, production red, or possibly New Hampshire.
