I have one easter egger roo his hens include 2 french black copper marans and 3 rhode island reds. None are laying yet still young may start getting eggs next month late. If and when they start breeding will their chicks be olive eggers or is there any way to tell.

Usually, welsummers, marans, penedesencas and dark egg strains of barnevelders crossed with green or blue layers will put out olive eggers. Sometimes when they are crossed again with the dark egg breed they'll be khaki colored.

You'll just have to breed them and find out.

Since your rooster is an Easter egger, and roosters aren't polite enough to advertise their egg color genetics, you don't know what he's carrying. He may be pure for the blue egg gene, in which case he'd make Olive Eggers with your Marans hens. He may have one blue and one brown gene (if he were a hen with this, he'd lay green eggs), then with the Marans you could get some Olive eggers, some brown eggers. Various shades of green are possible with your other hens.

Ok thanks. It's really not a life or death type thing with him i bought 2 EE chicks both were roosters i gave one away yesterday if he doesnt make olive eggers its fine i was just gonna see what i got since i ended up with a rooster. I also live in the city which doesnt allow roosters but made him a collar this morning which he adapted to really well never acted weird just shook and went to eating. It works great to you can barely hear him 15 feet away. Just made it from velcro from walmart.
