Chicken not feeling well

Well my DH and I did a very in depth and hands on examination tonight and there is nothing out of the ordinary or glaringly obvious as to why she is sick. Everything looks and feels fine other then her being a bit thin, probably hasn't been eating well for a little while. She is not wanting to walk at all now, she can still move her legs fine, its like she is just too weak. I got her the red base for her water and she is thankfully drinking very well now. So that is good but its only part of the battle. She is still not really interested in food, I have some tuna/egg canned cat food that my cat dislikes but I am wondering if I can try to coax her to eat by offering her some of it, just to give her a little boost? Is canned cat food ok in the short term just to get her eating again?

I feel like if she hangs on and I can get her eating/drinking again then maybe, just maybe she will pull through. Since nothing obvious is wrong, no swelling or anything I am guessing she either hurt herself somehow or is just to weak to walk properly. I am hoping that good food/water and rest and she will pull through.

I'm glad to hear she is drinking some now.

If you think she will eat some of the cat food then try it and see. If she will eat that, then next time trying adding just a smidge of her feed to mix with the cat food (add a little water to make a paste) and she if she will go for it. I don't think short term would hurt. The sodium content may not be that great but for a few days it should be fine.

She survived another night, she drank maybe 1/4 of a quart water with vitamins mixed in. I gave her some grit this morning because she wanted some, I also mixed a little tuna cat food in with her flock raiser mash. I had to coax and handfed her a little but she eventually dove in to the food dish. Her color has improved, but she is still shaking and not walking any. But at least I can get her to eat something and drink so at least that is promising. We shall see how she does once I can get her to eat more.

You are doing good

Eating, drinking and color coming back is at least a step forward.

What is the shaking? Is it like tremors or seizures?

Just going over everything.

Check your vitamin solution to make sure it has Vitamin B2(riboflavin), E, A, and Selenium.
Some don't have all the B vitamins so you can use a human B-Complex vitamin (no iron), just crush it up and mix it in with her food.

I really don't know, the tremors are worrisome. I forgot to ask are the tremors just in the legs or is it the head, neck, wings, whole body, etc.

I am pretty sure the supplement I am using has all that, only thing I am not sure of is the Selenium, I will check that next time I mix up her water. Its hard to tell with the tremors to be honest, she lays down a lot and I notice a slight whole body tremble if I watch her long enough. It is worrisome, but I am trying to stay positive and just take it a day at a time. She is eating which she hasn't really done a whole lot of until this morning so I am happy about that. If she does pull through this she is going to get a new more inspirational name to go with her new lease on life. I am also thankful its just her who is sick and not more of my flock.

Being new to chicken ownership dealing with something like this is tough I am so thankful to have someone like you and this board to help out.
