What's this?????

I'm new at this so please bare with me-

We have 2 hens that we're treating (naturally) for vent gleet. One of them laid an egg this morning and there's a huge white spot on the yolk.

Can someone please tell me what it is?

Just wanting to make sure that we don't have to treat for something else now. =-/

don't worry! it's called a blastodisc, or if they egg has been fertilized a blastoderm. it's where a chick would develop if you incubated the egg.

What you are seeing is the blastoderm. Nothing to worry about, it's where the embryo would develop if the egg were to be incubated.

Do you have a roo? The egg above looks to be fertile.
