Leghorn cocks or hens?!

Oh well... I think it'll be kept as it's unrelated, the egg came from a friend. My other half is thinking he's getting chicken pie soon :/ how can you tell it's a cockerel please?
 
It's all about the age and the comb. At only 10 weeks, any bird with a red comb is going to be male. In chickens, large red combs indicate sexual maturity, and boys get a jump on the ladies in that department. Females don't start getting red combs until they reach what we call point of lay--sexual maturity and ready to lay eggs. That's usually around 5 months, give or take depending on the breed. You can pretty much count on any bird under 4 months with a red comb to be male.
