I'm in MN - western border. Not much on the ground, really. Less than 6", I'd say. Fortunately, it rained most of the night, so we didn't get as much snow as we could have. It's the wind that's the problem. We're on the prairie so there's nothing to stop that snow once it starts blowing. Right now it's sustained at 30 mph, with gusts of 50+ mph. Not cold out, though, so that's a plus. It's about 30*.Are you in MN or WI...can never remember which....how much on the ground?
Poor baby. After hanging out in the coop and doing some observation, I now understand why my young EE cockerel is hanging out in the rafters or on the roosts. He was on a low roost when I went out there this morning, so I put him on the floor. The pullets (they're 8 months old, he's 5 months old) kept pecking at his neck, feet and face. Not attacking, just a peck here and there - putting him in his place, I'm sure. The older hens just ignored him. Right now he's quite timid - just moves away from the pullets. I'm sure he'll find his way in a few months.
Sounds like you got the same system we did. We ended up with 4" on the ground, but was heavy, wet and slushy. Roads are covered in frozen slush today. Fortunately, it rained most of the night Thurs. instead of snowing, or we'd have had a real mess on our hands. The wind was pretty wicked here, too.Poor baby.
How much snow you get?
Hit here this morning, rain all night...got about an inch on the warm ground so melting fast.....wicked west winds.
