Im new to byc and wanted to say hello! I have 4 hens that are now 16 weeks old. I just love them. I live in MI and im already thinking about winter and the best way to keep my hens warm and healthy. Any tips to help me get prepared would be great!

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us. I'd suggest typing "keeping chickens warm in winter" in the search box and seeing what pops up. I live in Kenya, so I'm not best placed to offer advice :)

All the best

You may also post on your state thread and ask the locals what type of coop and winter arrangements work best for them. Just put your state name in the search box and it will come up. Generally chickens can tolerant cold weather MUCH better than heat.

Hello i cant seem to find where i can post a question so i thought i would try here. I have 4 hens all about 19 weeks old. 1 of the columbian rock cross started laying about 10 days ago and i was getting one egg a day. Now the last 2 days she has stopped. I have checked around in the coop and the run but no egg. Is this normal that they stop for a few days? She is acting fine. Should i be worried or checking for something else? Thank you
