I notice that my best layers fill up like that before bedtime. If it's empty in the am then don't be too concerned. Some birds look like they are huge compared to some of the others.
Soft shell eggs are not too unusual for new layers, make sure you have calcium available free choice (oyster shell). Sometimes it may take a while for them to learn where they need to lay eggs, if you have them some people use golf balls to put in the nest, I found some ceramic eggs at Tractor Supply, I keep one in each nesting box, that may help encourage her to investigate and want to add her egg to the box.
