Good news.
The two largest owners of several retail chains in Denmark have now decided to end sale of caged eggs.
One by 2017 and one by 2020. Some of their chains have already stopped selling caged eggs.

By now organic and free range eggs have a 50 % marketshare. In Europe that means at least 6 square meters of outside space to each bird.

Things are not looking that good when it comes to pigs in Denmark. But slowly organic and free range farmers are gaining ground here as well.

That's great news! I'm in Canada and we are so far behind you. Public pressure has finally managed to get our two largest fast food breakfast chains (one being McDonalds) to switch to cage free but for some reason they won't be fully switched over for a couple of years. And they have not committed to outside space for hens :(
Of course we are still pumping them full of gmos and antibiotics. Maybe time to move to Denmark!

Still a long way to go here too. But McDonalds are using organic eggs in mcmuffins and bagels in Denmark. So it is possible.

I think that pigs, laying hens and chickens for meat are the most mistreated animals in conventional danish farming. And perhaps mink in the fur industri. So I hope that pigs will be the next successtory here.

That's wonderful news! I just hope the U.S. gets on board. They say they are, just not fast enough.

Evolution, not revolution. Gotta be receive any positive steps forward with open arms.
