We have a batch of "heavy red" broilers and they are not taking to their grower. We've never had picky broilers, or broilers that don't clamour to gobble up their feed.
The local mill just sells all-in-ones - starter crumb, grower pellets - and while they were fine on the starter, when we switched to the grower at 6.5 wks, they just stopped eating.
Could it be the heat? We are having a very hot,dry summer, but they always have some shade and fresh water available.
Any thoughts? This is our fourth year raising broilers, and we're stumped.
