Broody quail

Yes you run the risk of disturbing her enough she looses her broodyness. I would only go in when I was bringing fresh water and food, and look at eggs then. I have used both pencil or marker on both chicken and quail eggs, marker dries so fast it doesn't seem to harm the embryo by leaching through the shell.
