Is this enough space for 8 birds?

Best wishes Jenna14Chicken. I'm having fun trying to find skid, wood, free furniture etc to salvage any wood I can to make coops etc. So I know what it's like to 'make do':) my chickens are ok for now But I'm working toward building for winter. Fun:) .... have fun with your chickens and you have my sympathies on the passing of your loved one(s). That is so hard to go through! Best wishes.

We took an old twin size bed, framed it out and made a 4x6 coop! We had an old bed we weren't doing anything with, so we turned it into a chicken coop.

Love that! I used pallet wood and old closet doors to make my brooders/rabbit grow out hutches.
Just because funds are limited doesn't mean your options are. Tons of everyday items can be reused or taken apart and repurposed. The only limiting factor is imagination. Anything can be accomplished, if you are determined enough.

Thanks! We were stumped for a bit on how to cover headboard, we wanted it open for more ventilation, so we went to our local Re-Store and got an old cabinet face for $5. Attached it to headboard and now we've got more ventilation for summer or we can close cabinet doors for winter. My only issue with our coop is I wished we would've listened to others and made the coop/run human size.

LOL, I should say too that this picture is right after a big storm came through, that's why everything looks so beat up!! The coop/run to a beating, but chickens were dry and happy!!

That is SO cool!!! Love all the ideas!!! Gives me more ideas to keep my eyes open for! Thanks to both of you!!! 2 pallets makes a cute A frame to move around every so often. Used some other salvaged wood to fill in between the gaps. Had some chicken wire which closes off one end and another pallet slides at other end to close or open. Temporary but it works. Plus makes a neat little play house for my children to sit and play with the roosters. But hardest thing is Rio be like Jenna and have no way to get some of the stuff. I can sympathize greatly with that!

Thanks for all the replies everyone, i loved the idea of the bed frame turned into a coop! My new chickens should be laying soon so I can buy some material with money from eggs. But Haft of that will be going to feed so I won't have much $ but some to help a little. This will just be temporary, this winter for Christmas I'm asking for a new shed so my chickens can have the old one and have ALOT of space and my dad can have the new one. But I don't think I will get it. :( So I have a second plan, my birthday is in January so the money I get for my bday plus the money I get from Christmas and eggs should be enough to get a SMALL shed. Thanks again everyone! :)
