Egg at 16 Weeks??

Yay!!! Grats!!!

From what I've read/seen, one box is marginal for 4 hens. Most say 1 box per 3... I guess it kinda depends on the girls, what time each lays, etc...

Odds are, if you keep the one they'll fight, bicker, and you'll find eggs on the floor. However, if you add a second, EVERY SINGLE EGG will be in the same box!

Egg #2 today! And in the nesting box! Will 1 nesting box enough for 4 hens?

Nice!!
Looks like a true blue....some CL lines lay greenish.

I've read 2 nests minimum....not sure if it's necessary...time will tell for you.
That looks big enough that 2 birds could fit in there...and some are inclined to share space while laying, some are not.

I have 4 nests for 14 layers, some fake eggs/golf balls in all nests...usually works out fine, tho there are traffic jams on some days with the resultant bickering and some nest sharing(I've only observed this once, but pretty sure it happens occasionally). Am going to be in trouble here soon with 10 pullets getting close to lay and only one extra portable nest to put in coop....not sure what I'll do about that yet.

We got a rubber egg today!

Also got our 4th egg in the corner of the coop not in the nesting box. I think more than one may be laying now.
