Understand this pullet is about 24 weeks old and has in fact been laying for about a month. She was labeled an ameraucana but EE is fine. Think is we have seen her lay in fact my friend and I watched her lay her first egg. But her comb is still rather small and pale. I even told my friend had I not seen it myself I would have never even considered it to have been her egg.

Can it be normal for some pullets to turn red later on? There is no sign of illness in the cooperation other then 1 recovering from leg mites. The one with a pale comb looks and acts fine and lays 1-3 days in a row (not sure as I have 5 EE (4 of which are confirmed layers including this one)

Good to know. I have 1 with a huge comb, in fact it flops over. And another that started getting her color before Zoey (my page comb girl) even started laying. I know they can all be different. But most things imply anything other then a red comb on a laying hen is a bad thing. She is my guess to start laying with a pale comb, much less to keep the pale color for so long already.

So this is her my baby Zoey with a pink comb. It looks reddish in the pictures but it's not its very pale pink still. Like I said earlier I wouldn't believe she was laying at all if I didn't see it with my own eyes. The last picture is just because I love her colors. She has lavender under her Carmel top coat, but I know this isn't a good picture to site that either.

I have layers with paler combs.
As long as they are eatingdrinkingpooping OK, active, and laying sound eggs, I wouldn't worry about it.
