Hi everyone, my name is Paula and last week I added two baby silkies to my zoo. The silkies, Tiberius and Spock are currently 11 days old. I had been looking for silkies for a long time and finally found someone that breeds them 15 minutes from my house so my husband and I went out there and came home with two silkies to the dismay of my other family members. I also have a blue and gold macaw, Storm Isabella (I raised her from an egg), a German Shepherd, Loki and 2 huskies, Rosalie and Blue. I have learned a lot from just lurking around this site and I am looking forward to learning much more.

Hello from Kansas, Paula, and welcome to BYC. Great to have you here. A great place to start for the beginning chicken keeper is the Learning Center here https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. It's a treasure trove of valuable info.
Another place you might like to stop by is the Georgia thread in this link https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you where you can get to know some locals that share your poultry passion. Finally, as you are into silkies, here's a link to others who love them as well https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/297632/silkie-thread
Good luck you and your flock.:cd

Very nice to meet you Paula, Welcome to Backyard chickens.

Hmmm. Sounds like someone is a Star Trek fan. I think Captain Kirk's full name was James Tiberius Kirk, and Spock has always been just Spock.
Just saw the New "Star Trek Beyond." movie last weekend - very satisfying film.
