if a dove had a single egg that hadn't hatched yet would they be able to foster a different chick and then raise the baby from the egg even though they are different age? or would they raise one and abandon the other?

the eggs need to be laid no longer than three days apart dove feed milk to young and is formed for the first week or so this is a general rule

And the bigger dove squab will be more dominant and get most of the food, leaving the smaller one weaker and stunted.

Are you in need of a foster parent for a squab now, or was is just a question?

The bigger one would get fed more and out compete the littler one. Ive seen it happen with pigeons that are only two days apart from the same parents, that one got a head start and got most of the food even though the parents were very experienced and great care takers. I helped out by doing some supplementary hand feeding every day and he mostly caught up. Hes 5 months now and doing great :)
