My 3 wyandottes are currently 3-4weeks old ive gradually ive been slowly moving the heat lamp back its now back as far as it can go but brooder sits at around 29-30C directly under the emitter.. Its currently only 18-19C insude the house in the morning and gets up to around 22-23C its winter currently here in Australia.. Should i be turning it off during the day and back on at night now? Im only using a 50watt

What are the chicks doing? That will tell you how much heat they still need. If they are always under the heat source, then they still need it. If, on the other hand, they're avoiding the heat and hang out as far away as they can get, they probably no longer need any heat.

They hang everywhere during day only go under sometimes and onlu for a few minutes. Still sleep under/to the side of it at night

I dont think there is anything lower then 50watts ceramic heat emitter here in Australia ive been looking.. i can find 25watts on ebay from hong kong but that would take too long

When chicks reach the stage yours have, you may wish to remove the heat source and substitute a huddle box. This is any cardboard box large enough to accommodate all the chicks comfortably with an entrance large enough so a few can go in at the same time.

The principle behind it is they will huddle together and their heat source will be one another. No other heat is necessary.
 
So my now 4-5 week olds have had no heating during the day for about 4 days now and been totally fine should i try them without heat at night?? Our coop will be finished by wednesday and was hoping to put them outside by next weekend
