Just wondering how people with house ducks go on vacation? I'm assuming the duck is imprinted on you, or extremely attached, so how would you go away to a hotel for a week or something?

We don't go on vacation, lol. Not because our ducks have imprinted on us, I just don't want to leave them in someone's care

We are lucky enough to have very responsible neighbors who come twice a day to let them out, feed, change pool & drinking water and lock up at night. :)

Yes you are. Unfortunately for me all of our 'neighbors' are my DH's brothers and they don't think of them as pets.

I went away with mine for the fist time this weekend (3 days). Used an old XL dog crate for housing, smaller version bowls (dog bowls) & puppy pads (I use these regularly). The car ride was not bad, 2 hours. She rode in the car freely, first 5 minutes were interesting. I was in the passenger seat, she was on the floor with her baby (a moose dog toy). I ended up putting a sheet in the glove box to make a curtain, she was obsessed with the tree tops flying by. She finally settled down after 20 minutes, tucked her bill in her wings & slept with one eye open. LOL. I didn't take any pictures but I do have one of her on her the couch napping.

She is a call duck, Peep. She is a good flyer now so I will be playing around with a harness soon. I also have a diaper on its way. She follows me from room to room. Next time we will do both duck & dog in the car! Fingers crossed.
