We had a dog who hated firecrackers, and kids across the street who would set them off on July 4th until the street was covered in exploded paper.

The first year, we went out to watch fireworks at a nearby town, and came back to our sofa looking like this.

The next year, Mom put the dog in the basement instead. So he tore up the walls on either side of the door.

The following year, one of us stayed home!
