Both parents contribute genes for egg color. The pea comb gene is located very near to blue eggshell gene, and they usually inherit together. The Leghorn only has white eggshell genes to contribute. Blue shell is dominant over white shell. If the Easter Egger hen also has a gene or two for brown coating, green eggs are a possibility. Odds for blue or green eggs are very good, but there is still a chance for white or a shade of brown.Gotcha is it still safe to assume she might lay a blue tinted egg maybe green. I thought the father contributed egg color?
