If they're well protected from predators, they'll probably be okay. If they aren't, you should definitely catch them. It's not a bad idea to get them used to being in the duck house too.

And depends on how cold it gets at night where you are!

I woke up and my worst fear had happened

They were swimming in their drinking water.... Dang ducks lol

Yeah my pen is pretty much predator proof. I don't even think a snake could get into it. It only got down to about 68 degrees last night. I am hoping that they can grow with the weather starting to get colder.

I'm glad they made it through the night. Was also happy to see them playing already lol
 
Sounds like a good setup! Yep they should do fine! Should have no problems with the cold weather. My young batch of muscovy's are younger than yours and they will be fully feather by the time it's colder. No problems!
 
Hi I'm new here and just learning to post. I have few questions.

I have a female Pekin and a male Khaki. They are mating quite often though I'm not sure if they are mating effectively due to the size difference. Also I've heard it should get more females. How do I go about doing that? How do I safely add in more ducks? If I get ducklings what if I get another male?if I got ducklings now will I need to wait until spring to put them in the outside pen?

A lot of duck raising is common sense for me so I'm gonna tell you what I would do. If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

If your girl isn't being over mated(feathers pulled out, ect), then it will be ok just to have a pair for that reason.
I added my ducklings when they were the same size as the adults( doesn't mean same age just same size). I recommend getting them in spring so when they get out the brooder they can go straight outside. If you live in a place with a warm winter then you might get away with a heat lamp in the coop.

There are two options if you have to many drakes; Craigslist...or pot.'Nuff said
