Hello chicken people!

I have a 2 year old Orpington that's comb is very very pale, this is what I have tried- probiotic in water, sprayed down with Poultry Protector 2 times in 7 days, bathed and dusted with diatomaceous earth 2 times in seven days. I have put her in a separate pen and offered sunflower, mealworms, tuna & hard boiled eggs. She is continuing to lose weight and now pecks at food but, doesn't really eat it. It has been close to a month now and I just want to know if there is anything that I may have overlooked? The rest of the flock is healthy with nice red combs.

Thank you in advance for any help you may offer

If a vet is possible I would take her in. A stool sample for worms and intestinal illnesses such as coccidiosis might be a good idea. Capillary worms can cause anemia. SafeGuard liquid goat wormer 1/4 ml per pound for 5 straight days orally can treat capillary worms. Can you see any signs of mites or lice on her? What do her droppings look like? Cancer and egg yolk peritonitis can be common diseases in chickens.

Thank you!
She is having very loose stools, that is why I bathed her. I will try to get a sample in to my vet in the morning. We live in a very rural area, he is a large animal vet but, perhaps he can still do a stool sample for worms. I raise goats so I do have safeguard wormer available.

Thanks again for the reply
Patti

Another thing that causes a pale comb that I forgot to mention is molting. They tend to act a little withdrawn, stop laying, don't eat as much, and you would see some loose feathers in the coop. Let us know how she gets along.
