Please help identify my pretty bird

100% cockerel, and I'm also thinking Silver Duckwing Phoenix. He'll be absolutely drop-dead gorgeous once grown!

I once had two BB Red Phoenix cockerels, and they were amazing.

I am excited that that is possibly what he is! I have a message into McMurray's to see if they can definitively identify it. I would have done that before had I thought of it ;)

Ok I sent the pics to McMurray's and they said it is either a Silver Leghorn or a Phoenix but wouldn't really be able to tell until it's fully feathered at about 5-7 months. Also didn't even speculate on if it is a hen or rooster...

Leghorns have yellow skin. They do not ever have a dark wash on the legs. It's a Phoenix. Feathering has nothing to do with it, since both breeds have the same color/pattern genes. The primary difference is the skin color. And a hatchery typically will not ever acknowledge that a bird sold as a sexed pullet is actually a cockerel.

Well this one was not sold as a sexed pullet...it was my free "rare exotic bird" that came with my order :) And thank you for the information on the legs, I hadn't thought of that. There is sooooo much to learn about these little critters! And on a side note, they also issued me a credit for the two birds that I lost (one immediately on arrival and one was culled because of a severely crooked beak) and for the THREE roosters that I ended up with even though I ordered only hens! I <3 McMurrays! They have the best customer service!
