i guess you can try mixing wet feed with a calcium source. Hens love wet food for some reason.
Mine won't touch their layer pellets/mash unless they're starving or I mix it with a handful of wheat. Then they'll charge in with super speedy pecks.
I give them a variety of food now. Mostly their diet (as I try to keep it) layer pellets and I put out some cabbage and other greens. I put out orange skins after we've juiced them they seem to like pecking at it. Any fruit really I try to put out.
I mix their feed with oyster shells too but most of it goes to waste.
My hen is also laying shell less eggs since she started just over a week ago. We also have a small coop and she tends to step on them
and can't get her to get into the nesting box I made herSimilar threads
