Could I Put Eggs From my Friends Place Under my Chicken?

I have a friend that has a rooster and hens that are laying. Could l get an egg from their house, take it to my house and put it under my broody chicken? The only problem is that l would not know if the egg would be fertilised or not. Could l do this and after a couple of days just candle it or is there really no point in doing it because it would not be fertile or is there a chance of it being fertile. I live about 30 minutes away from their place so what should? Should l just buy fertile eggs?

I'd suggest the best thing to do is to go to your friends place, and use this link to see if the eggs are fertile or not - http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/16008/how-to-tell-a-fertile-vs-infertile-egg-pictures

You may wish to consider if you actually want the kind of chickens that your friend has.

If they appear to be fertile, then take eggs from the past 10 days (give or take) and keep them overnight, before giving them to your broody.
