Why do people leave their dogs loose???

Another tip if you can put a target out back and practice often. That way when neighbors hear shots they won't be surprised. At the BBQ one neighbor said it was like WWIII over here and thats after only 5 shots over 2 day period. Best to get them used to it

This would work well, .22 shotshell. Not strong enough to kill anything but I bet it stings like a B
. both good ideas to bad dog warden was not sure what exactly was considered abuse. Said it all depends on what state trooper shows up as to whether or not you are charged. But I guess someone would have to witness you actually shooting. Luckily no dogs have been in my yard since 9/10 only foxes

I live in Nova Scotia so my rules are a little different. I don't think we can legally shoot a dog for any reason.
I don't even think we are allowed to shoot a coon.

I only have one neighbouring house and the rest is just woods.
The neighbour has a rat size dog so I'd only need to use a fly swatter.

Unfortunately those would be considered animal cruelty. If you make up your mind to shoot, shoot to kill. I recomend a 12 guage shotgun and buck shot. Close is usually close enough, and the gun and amo are relitavly cheap
