Urgent Help! Please!!!

It's only September and my chicken has started to lose feathers. I'm unsure whether or not it's because of molting.
Get the picture. She's an ameracauna hen surounded by 2 adult hens and 3 young 3 month old chicks. She's losing feathers rapidly and none of the other chickens are molting. it's not cold, It's hardly rained. She's squawking whenever I get Near her and is losing feathers mainly on her wings. Last year my speckled Sussex hen died during the molting stage and we have no reason why.

Please Help My Poor Hen!

Should I?.....

- Quartine her

- Feed her more protein foods

- Give her a heat lamp

- Or anything else


Does She Have a Disease? Has anything like this happened to you? Is she just Molting???

Please help!

Every piece of information helps!
 
She's 2 but this is her 3rd fall/winter. We go to local homesteading stores to get food. But the normal chicken feed is mixed with the baby chick feed.

Well, I'm much further south than you, but my flock has been molting almost a month now. I wouldn't panic, if you have a cage you can put her in and still be with her flock you can. From what I've seen, molting chickens feel vulnerable and will hide and not eat as much(guess it depends on pecking order) and seem to lose weight. I put one that was looking poorly and losing weight in a cage and she actually ate and drank better in there. I think she was being harrassed by others. You might try feeding her separate and during this stressful time, add a vit/min powder to their water to avoid nutritional deficiency problems that can develop. I've seen some strange symptoms get better with vit/mineral supplements, and old feeds have lost their nutrient value, so I'm a big believer in supplementing vit/minerals when chickens look or act ill.
