My hen has mites and so I treated by using Revolution a topical flea and tick preventative instead of doing the dusting. Any other recommendations? They are sooooo gross! Has anyone experienced this before?

Yes, we deal with mites. There are lots of threads with some great info. I'm not sure about Revolution, and not sure if your eggs are safe to eat using that. We do use Frontline spray on our permanent roosters that we'll never eat. On hens we dust or use permethrin spray.

They can be controlled with diligent checking and treating. Good luck!

I won't eat the eggs. If I did the revolution already do you think it's still OK to do the other things you said.
Now she has worms. I was told revolution will kill those off too. What causes the chickens to get mites and worms?

I wouldn't do anything else until the revolution time is up, and then stick with one or another, not both. (Is that a month? I'm not familiar with it.) My understanding is that your chickens are outside they're going to be exposed to mites (spread by songbirds or rodents) and parasites from the ground. I believe it just is what it is and is something that has to be managed with chickens. Of course, poor management such as not controlling vermin or keeping too many chickens crowded in dirty conditions can contribute to it. But you just need one mite or one worm egg to get the cycle going.

There are people who don't seem to have mites and worms in their flocks. I'm not sure how they do it.
