Unusual Fowl Pox - Necropsy Results

Wow, just saw this!  That is amazing, when you think about it, how much she had wrong with her but she kept on fighting and you would never have guessed she had all those problems!  We've had what I suspect was one or two cases of AL over the years, and also one highly suspected case of MS, which we were able to control but never went fully away.  I have given up on doing Necropsies here though, for one thing they are so expensive but also the Ag department here is so seemingly antagonistic to backyard flock owners anymore, it is scary to go there.  At least that's been my experience from the last time I went, and that was a few years ago.  and that's where you go for necropsies.  They were never that way when we first had chickens, and I have had a couple done many years ago.  They were interesting and informative.  Thank goodness  for the immune systems in many of the birds in our flocks, eh??  Thanks for sharing and good luck with the rest of your flock!

Thank you. I was surprised too that there was so much going on.

I'm glad I asked for the full necropsy. The basic poultry necropsy would have only shown "Severe sinusitis, conjunctivits with periocular abscesses" as the diagnosis. I had no idea she had sinusitis, but that's not much more than the facts we already had: something wrong with the eye & death by lethal injection at the vet's office (the report doesn't mention that part). The rest of the actual necropsy section is marked "No significant lesions observed" for all of her other systems.
