I need to clarify my statement....
I meant to say--
Between the two breeds (Australorp and Jersey Giant) it can be very difficult to virtually impossible to discern the difference between the two by looking at a few photos. Even experts in the two breeds (folks who specialize in breeding ONLY those particular breeds) can have a very difficult time telling the difference simply by looking at a couple of photos.
 
Did the one bird ever make it back home?
Did they recover from the illness?
 
I can't remember either of them having an illness, but the smaller Australorp went missing back in November 2016 around thanksgiving, but I think she was just broody and nesting under the coop. She showed up in December 2016, and I later her sitting on eggs under the coop, so that's where I think she was when she went missing.

I was wondering what happened to her after reading this thread.
Glad she returned!
