We just got done with our monthly 4H meeting.
I have the SR. Project for January 15. I'm going to bring a few chickens but I need to also do something that they can take home or use as a project at the achievement days. Any ideas? These kids are 13+ so it needs to be age appropriate also. I was thinking maybe giving anyone who's interested some eggs to hatch out, but a few of the families don't have chickens or incubators. If it was warmer I would maybe even think of hatching a few purebred chicks and letting them raise them for projects at the fair.

What about a group building project?  Build a tractor/brooder, MHP brooder, putting together a fodder/sprout mix that could be sold to local chicken keepers.
I'm the only local chicken keeper around here.... Good idea to make money off of it

Put together a forage/sprout kit including the jar and screen, instructions and take it to your local feed store on a Saturday. Choose a cold blustery day... not too hard to do in January. I bet you'd run out of them within 2 hours. That time of the year, the die hard gardeners are just dying to have any thing green and growing. If you present the idea properly to the feed store, they would probably welcome the opportunity it would provide them: increased traffic, increased interest in raising chickens and gardening.
