I got two light sussex and they are 16 weeks old. Today i saw something eggish on the ground. It looked like a raw egg without a yolk. I have never seen this before so i grabbed a stick and " played " with it. It reminds me of a raw egg.
These are my first chickens so i was just wonderring if this could be an shelless egg and my chickens are ready to start laying? I can show you a picture of it.

Signs for a pullet getting ready to lay include a reddening of the comb, wattle and face, checking out the nest boxes and submissive squatting for you, when you approach them.

Pullets new to laying can lay some rather "interesting" eggs, from shell-less to soft-shelled ones. It normally is no cause for concern (it takes them a while to get their egg-making system up and running) but do keep an eye on them as if it continues for an extended period of time, there may be a problem.
