Help! Did I Buy Dud Hens??

Oh, and we are a Deaf family.

That must have been especially difficult to communicate.

And so... you do have signing chickens!

That is awesome. My dogs actually respond to visual ques better than verbal ones many times. So not to sound ignorant or anything, but how do YOU experience the egg song or crowing? Or have you yet?

What a blessing to have a huge property where quarantine isn't a problem. Never mind the usually never ending maintenance, focusing on the good here.

I hope the birds you already got settle in and become nice birds for you. And the other new ones also turn out well.

One more thing regarding the toe injuries. I used to have a flock of only 3, now 48. The things that can and will go wrong seem to happen more with the larger flock. There is just so many more of them to get in trouble and they love to play follow the leader.

So when I had only 3, not a single injury. Now with 48... at least 2 toe injuries. And 1 day one of them was hanging upside down, toes stuck in the fence. Had I not been home, who knows it could have been cannibalized or in the sun, overheated. Chickens are brutal to each other, some breeds are worse. Even without humans adding to it.
