Hi Guys,

I am new here after getting my very small flock of chickens about two weeks ago. They are a mix of 3 Pekin Bantams at around 12 weeks and sadly the chocolate rooster was taken by a fox yesterday ;(. Just thought I'd join a community to seeking help and advice and just browse through the knowledge :p.

P.S. I live in the city in the UK so hence my small flock xD

Hi and welcome to BYC! Sorry to hear about your rooster. Thanks for joining us!

Hi :welcome from Yorkshire!

Glad you could join the flock! Sorry to hear about your fox attack :hugs Was it during the day? Fixes sure are getting bolder over here at the moment. I heard one calling this morning at 5am pretty close to us. Please do ramp up security for your remaining birds as the fox will be back to check them out again now it knows food is on offer. Good luck with your remaining birds and be sure to ask lots of questions around the forum, everyone here to help and very friendly. Pop by and say hello in the uk thread if you get chance ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/655508/uk-member-please-say-hi/0_30

Enjoy your time here :frow

Thanks guys!

Yorkshire Coop - Yes the fox attack was in broad daylight! The chickens were free ranging in my back garden for the past week until I heard screaming so I ran out to see the fox getting away with my rooster

Thank you for joining us at Backyard chickens. So sorry for your loss. We have fox roaming the neighborhoods any time day or night. They are easily frightened off , so I imagine a lot of folks have made them feel very unwelcome. Haven't seen the coyotes lately but, I know they are still there.
